En la categoría de Canción tropical del año, el cantante originario del Bronx, Geoffrey Royce Rojas, conocido como Prince Royce, levantó el trofeo sin antes decir que Marc Anthony lo estaba poniendo nervioso: «Marc, you’re making me nervous».
Los números musicales siguieron. Colaboraciones como Cristian Nodal y Banda MS con el tema «La Sinvergüenza» y Natti Natasha quien presentó el tema «Noches en Miami», llenaron la noche de pasión.
Por su parte Juanes, vestido en un traje y camisa color Fucisa dio el toque roquero con una nueva versión del tema «Rebelión». Mientras que los mexicanos Carlos Rivera y Reik, llenaron de romanticismo el escenario con el estreno del tema «Cuántas veces».
Maná, el icono musical de Guadalajara
Uno de los momentos más esperados de la noche fue el momento en que los integrantes de Black Eyed Peas presentaron el reconocimiento de Icono a la banda originaria de Guadalajara, Jalisco.
«En estos treinta y tantos años de carrera nos hemos divertido y sigue la carrera de Maná», exclamó Fher, el vocalista, mientras que el baterista, Alex, aprovechó y promocionó los dos únicos conciertos que darán este año en Houston el 24 y 26 de noviembre.
En el momento que la Miss Universo, la mexicana Andrea Meza abrió el sobre y dijo que Christian Nodal se llevaba el reconocimiento en la categoría de Artista regional mexicano del año, solista, las atención se centró en el beso que le dio su novia, la cantante Belinda.
Homenaje a Juan Gabriel
La noche siguió con dos merecidos homenajes en los Premios Billboards.
El primero fue para Johnny Ventura en la voz de Wilfrido Vargas, quien afirmo: «Sin él, no existiría Wilfrido. Es el papá del merengue y me gustaría que Johnny escuchara todos los aplausos de ustedes» y el público le brindó una fuerte ovación a Ventura.
El segundo homenaje corrió por parte de las cantante mexicanas Yuri, Ana Bárbara y Guadalupe Pineda, quienes interpretaron los temas «Ábrazame muy fuerte», «Se me olvidó otra vez» y «Te sigo amando».
Para el final, las tres juntas cantaron dos de los temas más emblemáticos del «Divo de Juárez», «Me nace del corazón» y «Amor eterno», que hizo que Ana Bárbara llorara.
«Trayectoría artística»
El boricia Rauw Alejandro cantó el tema «Todo de ti» junto a 6 bailarines en patines. Posteriormente, Pedro Fernández presentó a Carlos Vives, Lucy Vives y Mau y Ricky pusieron el sabor a la velada, ya que por primera vez, interpretaron todos juntos el tema «Besos en cualquier horario».
Por primera vez, una mjuer recibió el reconocimiento de Premio Billboard Trayectoria artística. ¿Quién fue galardonada? La mexicana Paquita la del Barrio quien subió al escenario con la ayuda de Bad Bunny y una vez frente al micrófono, este quedaba por arriba de la interprete.
En seguida, Bad Bunny corrió al escenario para detenerlo y bajarlo y Paquita lo único que pudo decirle fue: «Eres un inútil». El público le aplaudió cuando dijo su característica frase. «Gracias por tomerme en cuenta, podría decir tantas cosas, pero mejor será darle a ustedes lo mejor», dijo la cantante.
El Top Latin álbum del año es para…
La noche siguió con diversos premios y números musicales como el de Karol G y el popurrí de sus temas. Mientras que Marc Anthony puso a bailar a todos los asistentes cuando cantó «Pa´lla Voy».
Bad Bunny se llevó a casa el reconocimiento de Top Latin álbum del año por YHLQMDLG. «Gracias a todos los que trabajaron en este disco. Le dedico este premio a todos los que hacen música allá afuera que quizás no son conocidos. Yo estuve ahí», afirmó el cantante.
Daddy Yankee se lleva el Premio Billboard, Salón de la Fama
Al ser nombrado por Carlos Vives y Pedro Fernández como el cantante que recibiría el Premio Billboard, Salón de la Fama, el boricua no podía contener la emoción, ya que es el primer artista del género urbano en recibir este reconocimiento.
Llenó de fuego el escenario al interpretar el tema «Métele al perreo» y al finalizar este y recibir el reconocimiento dijo:
«Ustedes saben que yo arranqué con una ilusión cuando tenía 15 años, de estar ahí sentado en donde están todos ustedes ahora. Y me tomó tres décadas entender que con disciplina, sabiduría y determinación, uno se podía llevar un reconocimiento como este».
Pop, Bachata y mucha candela en los Latin Billboards
Los siguientes tres números musicales fueron de un extremo al otro.
Comenzando con Maná quien junto a la cantante Mabel, ganadora de la emisión «La Voz Mexico Kids» cantaron la nueva versión del tema «El reloj Cucú».
Continuaron Rosalia y Tokischa quienes pusieron «la candela» en el escenario al interpretar el tema «Linda».
Para cerrar el bloque musical, Prince Royce cantó y bailó el tema «Lao’ a Lao'».
Para cerrar con broche de oro la entrega de los Premios Bilboard a música latina, la cantante brasileña Anitta entregó el reconocimiento más esperado de la noche: Artista del año.
