El Inter de Milán y el Milan anunciaron este martes que la «Catedral» dibujada por la firma de arquitectos «Populous» es el proyecto elegido para convertirse en su nuevo estadio y remplazar al icónico San Siro.
«AC Milan y FC Internazionale Milano están felices por anunciar que el proyecto de Populous, conocido como «La Catedral», es el elegido por los dos clubes. En las próximas semanas se concluirán los detalles para definir las modalidades de desarrollo del nuevo estadio de Milán», informaron los dos clubes milaneses en un comunicado.
Inter y Milan tomaron la decisión definitiva tras analizar dos proyectos, realizados por el grupo estadounidense Popoulous y por el consorcio ítalo-americano Manica-Cmr Sportium.
La Catedral de Populous fue preferida al de Manica-Cmr Sportium, que preveía unas líneas futuristas, marcadas por dos anillos que se entrelazaban y que simbolizaban la unión entre el pasado y el futuro del Inter y del Milan.
Los dos clubes trabajarán con el Ayuntamiento de Milán para llegar al proyecto completo durante 2022 y, según estimas no oficiales, es posible que el nuevo estadio esté listo antes de 2027.
