La canasta básica de alimentos en Venezuela tuvo un costo en febrero de 455 dólares, lo que supone un incremento del 61 % en comparación con hace un año, de acuerdo con los datos divulgados este lunes por el Centro de Documentación y Análisis Social de la Federación Venezolana de Maestros (Cendas-FVM), un ente independiente que brinda datos, ante la ausencia de cifras oficiales.
En febrero de 2021, una familia promedio de cinco integrantes necesitó una media de 282 dólares para satisfacer sus necesidades mínimas de alimentación a través de la canasta, siempre según el Cendas, reseña EFE.
Es decir, ahora, los venezolanos requieren 173 dólares más que hace un año para comprar los mismos productos, un dato que refleja el creciente costo de vida en divisas en el país, que hasta diciembre pasado vivió una hiperinflación que pulverizó el valor de la moneda local, el bolívar, y que abrió las puertas a un proceso de dolarización no oficial que abarca más del 50 % de las transacciones, según estimaciones de firmas privadas.
Sin embargo, diversos expertos económicos sostienen que la mayoría de los venezolanos no tienen acceso continuo y significativo a la divisa.
«En Venezuela, los precios también aumentan en dólares. A pesar de que el tipo de cambio bajó respecto a enero, la canasta, en definitiva, en dólares aumenta. El marcador de precios, desde hace tiempo, es el dólar», dijo a EFE el director del Cendas, el economista Oscar Meza.
Afirmó que para cubrir el costo de la alimentación se necesitó lo equivale a 300 salarios mínimos, que en febrero se ubicaba en 7 bolívares (1,5 dólares en ese entonces) y que a partir de esta segunda quincena de marzo, pasa a 130 bolívares (30 dólares), por orden del presidente Nicolás Maduro.
El Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas no publica el costo de la canasta alimentaria desde el año 2014, lo que, según expertos, forma parte de una «política de opacidad» por parte de los organismos oficiales, que tampoco publican otros indicadores, como la actividad económica y la pobreza.
