Un grupo de estudiantes de distintas universidades del país, resultó ganador en la competencia global de KPMG Ideation Challenge, donde se midieron con estudiantes de países como Australia, Brasil, Canadá, China, India, Irlanda, Nueva Zelanda, Corea del Sur, Suecia, Suiza, Turquía, USA, UK y Vietnam.
El Green Team, integrado por Jozuely Pérez, estudiante de Ingeniería Mecánica de la USB; Oriana Petitjean, quien cursa Ingeniería de Producción en la USB; Giselle Pietersz, de Contaduría Pública de la UNIMET; Carlos Melian, perteneciente a Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones de la USB; Estefanía Bolívar, estudiante de Derecho en la UNIMET; y Erika Zoppi, quien cursa ala carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en la UCAB; representó a Venezuela en la competencia, en la que presentaron ante el jurado internacional, su propuesta “Greenest”, un sistema capaz de utilizar la energía que producen las plantas durante la fotosíntesis para generar electricidad y hacer posible una fuente de energía sostenible en todo el mundo.
Venezuela llegó a la ronda final junto con Corea del Sur, Estados Unidos y la India, donde el equipo venezolano resultó ganador.
El trayecto para alcanzar este logro se inició en noviembre de 2020, cuando KPMG en Venezuela atendió el llamado global para el KIC y realizó la convocatoria abierta, dirigida, principalmente, a estudiantes Ciencias, Tecnología, Ingeniería y Matemática (STEM, por sus siglas en inglés) y carreras Business, para invitarlos a postularse en la ronda local que se llevó a cabo el 10 de febrero de 2021 en las oficinas de KPMG en Venezuela y donde fue seleccionado Green Team ganador.
Los líderes y especialistas que integran KPMG en Venezuela acompañaron a los estudiantes en todas las etapas del KPMG Ideation Challenge. Cada equipo de la ronda local fue asesorado por profesionales de la firma, quienes los orientaron en la conceptualización de las ideas, tendencias en el mercado y recomendaciones para la presentación de su solución. Una vez seleccionado el Green Team como ganador, la Firma continuó guiando a quienes finalmente representaron a Venezuela en la ronda global y dejaron en alto el nombre del país.
