Israel entregará a la Autoridad Palestina un millón de vacunas

El nuevo Gobierno de Israel ha anunciado el viernes (18.6.2021) que entregará alrededor de 1 millón de dosis de vacunas de Pfizer próximas a caducar a la Autoridad Palestina a cambio de un número de dosis similar que los palestinos esperan recibir más adelante, en septiembre u octubre de 2021. Israel ha enfrentado numerosas críticas por no compartir sus vacunas con los 4,5 millones de palestinas en las zonas de Gaza y Cisjordania.

«Israel firmó un acuerdo con la Autoridad Palestina y entregará un millón de dosis de vacunas Pfizer a punto de expirar y recibirá a cambio las dosis que la empresa Pfizer tenía que enviar a la Autoridad Palestina«, afirmó la oficina del primer ministro y los ministerios israelíes de Defensa y Salud, en un comunicado conjunto.

Unidad epidemiológica

Israel ha llevado a cabo una de las campañas de vacunación más rápidas del mundo, que le ha permitido ir levantando restricciones para frenar la pandemia, incluida la obligatoriedad de mascarilla en interiores esta misma semana.

Sin embargo, también ha recibido muchas críticas de grupos de derechos humanos y profesionales de la salud por no ayudar a los palestinos, ya que la campaña de inmunización en Cisjordania y Gaza avanza lentamente y con muchas trabas, lo que pone en riesgo tanto a la población palestina como a la israelí.

Aunque la barrera de seguridad separa la mayor parte de Cisjordania de Israel, y hay una cerca casi hermética entre Israel y Gaza, toda la región se considera una unidad epidemiológica.
