Huníades Urbina: Según OPS en Venezuela solo 47 % de la población está vacunada con dos dosis

El doctor Huníades Urbina, pediatra y secretario de la Academia Nacional de Medicina, aseguró que, según los informes de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), solo 47 por ciento de la población en Venezuela esta vacunada contra COVID-19 con las dos dosis necesarias.

Indicó que 72.59 por ciento de la población tiene una dosis de la pauta vacunal.

“Estamos muy bajos en el contexto latinoamericano. Para poner las terceras dosis, hay que hacer un barrido del resto de la población y llegar por lo menos al 80 por ciento de esta con dos dosis”, añadió.

El experto explicó que mientras se hagan menos PCR de las que se necesitan, se tendrán cifras oficiales alejadas de la realidad.

“Mucha gente no se hace pruebas porque piensa que como es leve no es necesario y esto aporta al sub registro de casos en el país”, acotó.

Urbina destacó que, si bien hasta la fecha Ómicron no tiene la severidad de variantes como Delta, hay personas con patologías de base que de no cuidarse pueden evolucionar de forma negativa.
El pediatra insistió en que el covid en Venezuela es “una imagen de dolor”.

“El Ejecutivo nacional no ha entendido la importancia de dotar los hospitales para atender la COVID-19. Afortunadamente no nos ha pegado como a otros países, pero no tenemos los equipos necesarios”, señaló.

El secretario de la Academia Nacional de Medicina advirtió que no puede tomarse la misma decisión en todo el territorio nacional con respecto al covid, según detalla Mundo UR.

“Dependiendo de cada realidad deberían hacerse medidas focales, siempre manteniendo las medidas de bioseguridad”, indicó.

Urbina recordó que en pandemia “todo lo que huela a coronavirus es coronavirus”.
