Diez días después de ser detenido en Madrid tras casi dos años escondido, el exgeneral venezolano Hugo Armando Carvajal Barrios, considerado el fugitivo más buscado de Estados Unidos por tráfico de drogas, declarará mañana lunes a petición propia sobre terrorismo internacional ante la Justicia española.
El exmilitar, conocido con el sobrenombre de «el pollo», pidió la pasada semana comparecer en la Audiencia Nacional española voluntariamente para aportar datos sobre las relaciones entre la banda terrorista española ETA y las FARC colombianas, entre otros asuntos, petición que fue aceptada.
Ese mismo tribunal dio luz verde a su extradición a Estados Unidos en 2019, un proceso que ahora se mantiene en suspenso a la espera de que se resuelva el procedimiento de asilo que formuló.
El Ministerio español del Interior notificó el pasado miércoles a la Audiencia Nacional y a la prisión de Estremera (Madrid), en la que ingresó tras ser detenido, que el asilo le fue denegado en 2019, circunstancia que fue comunicada al centro en septiembre de ese año, si bien Carvajal ya no se encontraba interno allí.
Ahora el recluso tendría el plazo de un mes para solicitar que se revise su expediente.
Carvajal está reclamado por Estados Unidos por delitos de narcotráfico, blanqueo de capitales y colaboración con las FARC para introducir drogas en territorio estadounidense. EFE
