En las últimas horas, el intérprete de 68 años de edad fue dado de alta y presenta una mejoría en su estado de salud, según informó el portal TMZ. En la ficción, Petersen retoma su papel clásico de CSI, que la cadena televisiva describe como una secuela del CSI original: Crime Scene Investigation y que titula CSI: Las Vegas.
En la ficción, Petersen y Jorja Fox interpretan a los investigadores Gil Grissom y Sara Sidle, en la que también estarán presentes Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodríguez y Mandeep Dhillon.
Sobre la trama, la producción señala que, «frente a una amenaza existencial que podría derribar el Laboratorio de Crimen, un nuevo y brillante equipo de investigadores forenses da la bienvenida a viejos amigos y despliega nuevas técnicas para preservar y servir a la justicia en La Ciudad del Pecado».
La miniserie se estrenará el 6 de octubre a través de la cadena CBS, después de atrasarse su lanzamiento un año debido a las restricciones de la pandemia.
CSI se estrenó el 6 de octubre de 2000 y duró 15 temporadas, lanzando varios spin-offs antes de terminar con un final de película de dos horas en septiembre de 2015. Protagonizada por Peterson, Fox, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads y otras figuras, la serie siguió durante las distintas temporadas a los investigadores de la escena del crimen del Departamento de Policía de Las Vegas mientras trabajaban para resolver los casos. CSI tuvo tres series derivadas: CSI: Miami, CSI: New York y CSI: Cyber, que fue cancelada en 2016 por no haber recibido una buena respuesta de la audiencia. La producción estaba protagonizada por la ganadora del Oscar, Patricia Arquette, y por el exDawson’s Creek, James Van Der Beek.
