El Gobernador Omar Prieto Fernández anunció la concreción de un convenio investigativo y de producción de medicamentos entre el laboratorio SM PHARMA administrado por el Ejecutivo Regional y la Universidad del Zulia (LUZ) a fin de incrementar la producción de fármacos que garanticen la salud de pueblo zuliano y capacitar a los estudiantes del instituto de farmacéutica de la facultad de medicina y el personal del laboratorio.
Al respecto, el Mandatario Regional acompañado por el Comandante de la Región Estratégica de Defensa Integral Occidental M/G José Santiago Moreno Martínez, de la Autoridad Única de Salud en el Zulia Dra. Omaira Prieto y la Rectora de LUZ Judith Aular y de la junta administrativa de SM Pharma, explicó que esta es la primera de varias alianzas estratégicas con la máxima casa de estudios en el estado debido a que se tiene previsto reimpulsar la producción de insumos médicos como inyectadoras para la vacunación anticovid y con la participación de la facultad de medicina y de ciencias optimizar el proceso productivo.
Por su parte, Judith Aular, Rectora de la Universidad del Zulia resaltó que el convenio genera importantes beneficios a la comunidad universitaria ya que se llevarán a cabo actividades de docencia, investigación y extensión con la facultad de medicina, la facultad de ciencias en el área de química quienes podrán elaborar sus tesis de grado en los espacios del laboratorio de SM PHARMA.
A su vez, Aular reconoció el apoyo sostenido que viene ofreciendo el Gobernador Omar Prieto para el rehabilitar y adecuar las instalaciones universitarias y en este caso específico contribuir con el desarrollo de la investigación académica y la producción de medicamentos que beneficien a la colectividad regional y nacional.
