Giorgio Armani, condecorado como «Cavaliere» de Italia

El diseñador de moda Giorgio Armani fue condecorado con la Gran Cruz de la Orden del Mérito de la República italiana, tras una trayectoria de cinco décadas que le ha ensalzado como uno de los modistos más reconocidos del mundo.

El jefe de Estado, Sergio Mattarella, entregó personalmente este distintivo en el romano palacio del Quirinale a Giorgio Armani, de 87 años, según un comunicado oficial.

El empresario recibe el título de «Cavaliere» con este broche, decorado además con el Gran Cordón, como muchas otras personalidades italianas de gran trayectoria nacional e internacional.

Esta condecoración, instituida en 1951, es la de mayor rango del país y reconoce «las bondades dadas a la Nación en el ámbito de las letras, las artes, la economía o el desempeño de cargos públicos».

Y se entrega también por actividades con fines sociales, filantrópicas y humanitarias, y por destacados servicios en las carreras civiles y militares.

El diseñador y empresario aseguró que este reconocimiento es «especialmente importante» para él porque se lo ha concedido por decreto el presidente Mattarella, a quien definió como «un hombre de inmenso valor, gran apertura y gentileza».

«Me siento orgulloso de representar a Italia en el mundo y de recibir esta prestigiosa condecoración de su mano en nombre de todo el país», dijo Armani al jefe de Estado, que el próximo febrero dejará el cargo tras siete años de servicio.
