La Academia Latina de la Grabación reconocerá la trayectoria de Joaquín Sabina, Fito Páez, Martinho da Vila, Emmanuel, Sheila E. & Pete Escovedo, Milly Quezada y Gilberto Santa Rosa con el Premio a la Excelencia Musical de los Latin Grammy.
La institución detalló este jueves en un comunicado que los galardonados recibirán sus premios en una ceremonia privada que tendrá lugar el 17 de noviembre en Las Vegas (EEUU), un día antes de que se celebre en la ciudad del juego la 22º edición de los Latin Grammy.
“Es un gran honor brindarle reconocimiento a este notable grupo de artistas legendarios, pero a la vez muy activos, con el Premio a la Excelencia Musical”, indicó el presidente y consejero delegado de la Academia Latina, Gabriel Abaroa Jr.
El máximo responsable de los Latin Grammy añadió que los “sobresalientes logros” de los homenajeados “han creado un legado en el mundo de la música latina que trasciende generaciones”.
El premio a la Excelencia Musical se otorga a “intérpretes que durante su carrera han hecho contribuciones creativas de sobresaliente valor artístico a la música latina y sus comunidades”.
En esta ocasión distinguirá al español Joaquín Sabina, el argentino Fito Páez, el brasileño Martinho da Vila, el mexicano Emmanuel, los estadounidenses Sheila E. & Pete Escovedo, la dominicana Milly Quezada y el puertorriqueño Gilberto Santa Rosa.
Además de estos reconocimientos, la Academia Latina anunció que el productor y compositor mexicano Guillermo “Memo” Acosta y el acordeonista colombiano Egidio Cuadrado recibirán el Premio del Consejo Directivo.
Esta distinción se entrega a “personas que han realizado aportes significativos a la música latina durante su carrera, pero no necesariamente en la forma de interpretaciones”.
Al margen de los Premios a la Excelencia Musical y del Consejo Directivo, la Academia Latina desveló a comienzos de este mes que el legendario salsero Rubén Blades recibirá el premio Persona del Año 2021, la distinción honorífica más importante de los Latin Grammy.
