Freddy Pachano: tras un año de pandemia la situación es “dantesca”

A un año de que el Gobierno decretase el confinamiento obligatorio para prevenir la expansión del COVID-19 por Venezuela, la situación con el virus no varía mucho, pues por un tiempo parece bajar, y por otro la llamada curva de contagio parece subir.

Aunque las instancias de Gobierno ofrecen constantes cifras que detallan la cantidad de casos activos, los curados y decesos, ninguna parece reflejar el número de médicos fallecidos durante la pandemia y si lo hicieran, lo más notable del caso sería que el estado Zulia es el que ostenta el primer lugar con 64.

Freddy Pachano, director del posgrado de Cirugía de la faculta de Medicina de la Universidad del Zulia, conversó con Foco Informativo sobre este tema y definió este último año como “dantesco” para los profesionales de la medicina de la región.

“Un año terrible, trabajar sin insumos adecuados, en hospitales deteriorados y exponiéndose a una enfermedad con una alta tasa de contagio sin equipos de protección adecuados y sin servicios públicos en los hospitales, es un panorama dantesco”, aseguró el galeno.

En su opinión son “muchas las razones por la que esta entidad se presenta una tasa de mortalidad tan alta en el personal médico durante la pandemia. Entre las causas que mencionó destacó el descuido y desconocimiento de las medidas de protección personal, poca calidad de servicios públicos».

“La fuga masiva de personal científicamente preparado, ausencia de personal de enfermería y médicos por bajos salarios, escasez y costo de medicamentos, inaccesibilidad al servicio de salud privado por falta de recursos”, mencionó el también docente.

Para Pachano el Estado venezolano hizo puntualmente algunos esfuerzos para evitar las muertes por COVID-19 en el país, pero el nivel de deterioro de la infraestructura hospitalaria por años de abandono, pasó factura durante la crisis.

“¿Podrían hacerlo mejor? Claro que sí, sobre todo deslastrándose del pensamiento político y pidiendo colaboración a los expertos que tienen las universidades autónomas, que son las que realmente tienen personal preparado”, indicó.

A un año de la pandemia el balance de Pachano sobre la situación en el país, recuerda que el Estado adecuó áreas que antes no se tenían, “aunque debieron y deben hacer mucho más. Sobre todo, a nivel preventivo y en vacunación que debe ser masiva y más rápida”.

Sobre el tema de la vacunación y los mecanismos a los que puede apegarse Venezuela para adquirir las distintas vacunas, Pachano cree que llegó el momento de dejar las posiciones políticas en favor de la población.

“Es necesario dejar de lado las posiciones políticas para buscar el camino que facilite la ayuda humanitaria de nuestra población. Actualmente no veo esa intención”, finalizó.
