Esta medianoche Chile dejó de estar bajo el estado de catástrofe decretado por el Gobierno a raíz de la pandemia, terminando con el toque de queda que se impuso en todo el territorio desde marzo de 2020 mientras este jueves se detectaron 895 nuevos casos, la cifra más alta en seis semanas.
El cambio se pudo apreciar de manera inmediata en las principales calles de Santiago, la capital del país suramericano, donde el comercio extendió su horario de atención que se mantuvo restringido durante toda la emergencia.
«Tomamos previsiones para recibir clientes hasta última hora. Esperamos que la gente se vaya habituando a los nuevos horarios. Se supone que la locomoción funcionará de forma normal así que la gente no tendría problemas para irse», señalaron comerciantes a medios locales.
La resolución del Ejecutivo llegó el pasado lunes poco después de anunciar la reapertura de fronteras al ingreso de extranjeros vacunados a partir del 1 de octubre, tras varias semanas registrando una importante disminución de casos y una tasa de positividad que hoy está en el 1,3 %.
«Fue necesario para dotar de mayores y mejores herramientas a nuestro país para combatir la pandemia del coronavirus al permitir restringir la libertad y movilidad de las personas a través de medidas como cuarentenas, cordones sanitarios y toque de queda. Este estado de catástrofe permitió la colaboración de las Fuerzas Armadas en el control y fiscalización de las medidas de excepción que como Gobierno debió adoptar«, señaló el presidente Sebastián Piñera durante el anuncio.
Con este nuevo escenario ya no habrán más cuarentenas regionales o comunales a lo largo del país, aunque se mantendrán las medidas como el aislamiento de positivos, contactos estrechos, sospechosos y viajeros, además de limitaciones de aforos dependiendo de la situación epidemiológica.
A la fecha, en Chile se han detectado 1,6 millones de infectados por coronavirus y la cantidad de fallecidos asciende a más de 45 mil personas, considerando casos confirmados y sospechosos, según el Departamento de Estadísticas e Información del Ministerio de Salud.
En total son 378 pacientes los que hoy permanecen hospitalizados en unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI), 273 de ellos con apoyo de ventilación mecánica.
