“En nuestra opinión, y de acuerdo con nuestros estatutos, cualquier competición de fútbol, ya sea nacional, regional o mundial, debería reflejar siempre los principios fundamentales de solidaridad, inclusión, integridad y redistribución financiera equitativa”, indica.
El máximo organismo futbolístico mundial apunta que “los órganos rectores del fútbol deben emplear todos los medios legales, deportivos y diplomáticos para garantizar que esto siga siendo así” y asegura que “en este contexto” “no puede sino expresar su desaprobación a una ‘liga europea cerrada y escindida’ que se encuentra fuera de las estructuras del fútbol internacional y que no respeta los principios mencionados”.
En defensa de la unidad en el fútbol mundial la FIFA “hace un llamamiento a todas las partes implicadas en las acaloradas discusiones para que entablen un diálogo tranquilo, constructivo y equilibrado por el bien del juego y con espíritu de solidaridad y juego limpio” y señala que “hará todo lo que sea necesario para contribuir a un camino armonizado en el interés general del fútbol”.
