Federer, de 39 años y ganador de 20 torneos del Grand Slam, jugó su último partido oficial el pasado 11 de marzo en los cuartos de final del ATP 250 de Doha, donde perdió ante el georgiano Nikoloz Basilashvili.
El partido de este martes, primero para el suizo en arcilla desde que perdió ante el español Rafael Nadal en las semifinales de Roland Garros 2019, comenzó con máxima igualdad en los primeros juegos.
