La vacuna anticovid rusa Sputnik V demostró una eficacia del 97,6 % durante la campaña de vacunación que abarcó ya a 3,8 millones de rusos, informó hoy el Fondo de Inversiones Directas Ruso (FIDR).
«El análisis de los datos de la tasa de infección de casi 4 millones de personas vacunadas en Rusia muestra que la eficacia de la vacuna es aún mayor (que el 91,6 % de eficacia, anunciado por la revista The Lancet), alcanzando el 97,6 %», afirmó Kiril Dmítriev, director del FIDR, en un comunicado.
Estos datos confirman que el fármaco ruso ofrece, según Dmítriev, «una de las mejores tasas de protección contra el coronavirus entre todas las vacunas».
FIDR basa su estimación en los resultados obtenidos por el registro de personas vacunadas del Ministerio de Sanidad ruso y el de pacientes de covid-19 detectados por el Sistema de Información Estatal Unificado de Salud.
Según el fondo, la tasa de contagio de 3,8 millones de rusos vacunados con ambos componentes del fármaco entre el 5 de diciembre de 2020 y el 31 de marzo de 2021 fue sólo del 0,027 %.
Como la vacuna requiere de un tiempo para generar inmunidad en el organismo humano, se contabilizaron las personas que enfermaron después de 35 días de recibir la primera dosis.
En contraposición, la tasa de contagios entre la población adulta no vacunada fue de un 1,1% durante el mismo período.
Alexander Gintsburg, director del Centro Gamaleya, fue más allá al afirmar que «la eficacia real de la vacuna Sputnik V puede ser incluso mayor de lo que muestran los resultados» del análisis, ya que la investigación no contempla el lapso de tiempo transcurrido entre el contagio real y el diagnóstico de la enfermedad.
FIDR adelantó que los resultados de este estudio serán publicados en una revista médica especializada en mayo próximo, sin especificar cuál.
Hasta ahora, la Sputnik V fue registrada en 60 países con una población total de 3.000 millones de personas.
Rusia, que cuenta con tres vacunas anticovid de fabricación propia, tiene previsto producir 88 millones de vacunas contra el coronavirus en la primera mitad de 2021, de los que 83 millones corresponderían a Sputnik V.
