Expresidentes iberoamericanos abordarán el próximo 16 de noviembre los retos de la libertad en la era digital durante el VI Diálogo Presidencial, con la participación de la canciller y vicepresidenta de Colombia, Marta Lucía Ramírez.
El evento, que suele realizarse en la universidad Miami Dade College (MDC) en esta ciudad floridana, organizado por la Iniciativa Democrática de España y las Américas (IDEA), será inaugurado por el secretario general de la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA), Luis Almagro, reseñó EFE.
Se trata de la segunda vez que se hará de forma virtual debido a la pandemia de la COVID-19.
El evento, organizado por la Cátedra Mezerhane del MDC, contará con la participación de una docena de expresidentes de Latinoamérica y España, entre ellos, Jamil Mahuad y Osvaldo Hurtado (Ecuador), Álvaro Uribe y Andrés Pastrana (Colombia) y Mauricio Macri (Argentina).
También estarán los expresidentes José María Aznar (España), Laura Chinchilla y Miguel Ángel Rodríguez (Costa Rica), Carlos Mesa y Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga (Bolivia), Eduardo Frei (Chile) y Luis Federico Franco (Paraguay).
IDEA es un foro internacional no gubernamental que integran 37 exmandatarios, patrocinado por la Fundación IDEA-Democrática, que fomenta el principio de la alternabilidad del poder.
Desde la sociedad civil y la opinión pública, el foro observa y analiza los procesos y experiencias democráticos iberoamericanos, reflexiona sobre las vías y medios que permitan la instalación de la democracia allí donde no existe o su reconstitución donde se ha deteriorado.
