La alcaldesa dijo que el número de desaparecidos disminuyó de 159 a 156 con la nueva víctima mortal y con personas que estaban en la lista y fueron localizadas con vida.
Ahora la cifra de personas localizadas es de 130.
La identificación de las víctimas es una tarea compleja, indicó Levine Cava, quien subrayó que se va a solicitar a los familiares de desaparecidos que brinden muestras de ADN para facilitar la tarea.
Hasta ahora están identificadas tres de las víctimas mortales.
Desde que en la madrugada del jueves 24 se desplomó parte del edificio Champlain Towers, con 136 apartamentos y en primera línea de playa en Surfside, al norte de Miami Beach, el equipo de rescate no ha interrumpido la búsqueda, trabajando en turnos de cuatro horas.
En cuestión de segundos y por causas aun no determinadas, 55 apartamentos se vinieron abajo junto con sus ocupantes, que a esas horas dormían.
Además de rescatistas de otras partes de Florida y EEUU, se sumaron equipos de México e Israel como refuerzos, según informó este sábado el jefe de Bomberos de Miami-Dade, Alan Cominsky.
La búsqueda se ve dificultada por un incendio en la base del amasijo de hierros, hormigón armado y restos de muebles.
Un informe conocido en las últimas horas indica que una firma de ingenieros detectó en 2018 un daño estructural «importante» en Champlain Towers y recomendó hacer reparaciones.
Las autoridades de Miami-Dade ordenó realizar una inspección en todos los edificios que al igual que Champlain Towers tengan más de 40 años de antigüedad y estén en la línea de costa./EFE
