La existencia en El Salvador de la variante delta del SARS-Cov-2 fue confirmada este sábado por el ministro de Salud, Francisco Alabí, a pesar que este país centroamericano tiene un ritmo acelerado en la vacunación.
“Se confirma en El Salvador la existencia de la variante delta”, la cual tiene “características particulares”, declaró Alabí en rueda de prensa.
El ministro llamó a la población a adoptar “medidas de precaución” como evitar aglomeraciones y buscar los centros para recibir la vacuna contra el covid-19.
“Debemos seguir cumpliendo todas las medidas y protocolos de bioseguridad para evitar dificultades ante la variante del covid-19”, sostuvo.
Desde el 25 de junio se observa un ascenso sostenido de contagios, al pasar de un promedio de 178 a 285 casos diarios al 30 de julio.
El 13 de julio, la Asamblea Legislativa (Congreso unicameral) suspendió por 90 días concentraciones y eventos públicos para hacer frente al repunte de la pandemia, que acumula 86.620 casos positivos y 2.629 fallecidos.
Hasta el viernes, El Salvador registraba 4.309.728 personas vacunadas, de las cuales 1.487.461 con segunda dosis. Del total de 6,7 millones de habitantes, 4,5 millones deben ser inoculados, según la cartera de Salud.
