El presidente de Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, impuso este martes un veto parcial a la ley que regula el aborto en casos de violación, recientemente aprobada por la Asamblea Nacional (Parlamento), tras una sentencia de la Corte Constitucional que despenalizó la interrupción del embarazo para mujeres violadas.
Lasso, de tendencia conservadora, confirmó en una carta publicada en redes sociales su postura ya anticipada en días anteriores de no promulgar la norma en el Registro Oficial, al mostrarse disconforme con los plazos de acceso al aborto y considerar que no abordaba todas las aristas reclamadas por la Corte Constitucional en su fallo.
Entre las 61 observaciones que Lasso presentará al Legislativo en un nuevo texto, este unificará en doce semanas el tiempo máximo legal para interrumpir el embarazo en caso de violación y desarrollará aspectos como los requisitos para acceder al aborto y las condiciones para la objeción de conciencia del personal médico.
