El papa Francisco otorgó hoy a varios hombres y también mujeres los ministerios de catequistas y lectores por primera vez, en un rito nuevo en la basílica de San Pedro tras cambiar el Código de Derecho Canónico.
Esta ceremonia, por la III Jornada la Palabra de Dios, es una novedad y su rito fue preparado por la Congregación para el Culto Divino y la Disciplina de los Sacramentos, reseñó EFE.
Los nuevos lectores dos hombres y seis mujeres y catequistas cinco hombres y tres mujeres, llegados de varias partes del mundo como Perú o Brasil, se sentaron frente al altar papal y fueron llamados por su nombre para recibir el mandato.
Después el papa entregó una Biblia a cada uno de los nuevos lectores, arrodillados ante él: “Recibe el libro de las Santas escrituras y transmite fielmente la palabra de Dios para que germine y fructifere en el corazón de los hombres”, les emplazó.
Los catequistas recibieron una cruz como la pastoral de Pablo VI y Juan Pablo II, papas viajeros, subrayando el “carácter misionero” de su servicio: “Recibe esta señal de nuestra fe, cátedra de la verdad y de la caridad de Cristo, y anúncialo con la vida, la acción y la palabra”, les instó el papa.
Son los hombres y mujeres que ayudan en las misas o realizan un servicio en el altar, como ministras o dispensadoras de la eucaristía, algo en realidad bastante frecuente en las diócesis de medio mundo pero que Francisco ha institucionalizado y abierto a las mujeres por escrito, de forma oficial.
El pontífice publicó en enero de 2021 el “motu proprio” “Spiritus domini” para modificar el Código de Derecho Canónico y abrir los ministerios de lector y acólito a las mujeres.
Francisco derogaba así lo ordenado por su antecesor Pablo VI, que en 1972 mantuvo el acceso a estos ministerios solo a los hombres, pues consideraba estos servicios eclesiásticos como una antesala a un eventual acceso a las órdenes sagradas o sacerdocio.
La nueva formulación del canon 230 elimina la especificación de sexo masculino y reza: “Los laicos de una edad y unos dones determinados por decreto de la Conferencia Episcopal podrán ser empleados permanentemente, mediante el rito litúrgico establecido, en los ministerios de lectores y acólitos”.
En su homilía, Francisco, ante los nuevos lectores y catequistas, explicó que Dios “no es un tirano que se encierra en el cielo, sino un Padre que sigue nuestros pasos”.
“No es un Dios neutral e indiferente, sino el Espíritu amante del hombre, que nos defiende, nos aconseja, toma partido a nuestro favor, se involucra y se compromete con nuestro dolor”, afirmó.
Francisco abogó por “unir el culto a Dios y el cuidado del hombre” porque las Escrituras no sirven, dijo, para “mimarnos en una espiritualidad angélica” sino “para salir al encuentro de los demás y acercarnos a sus heridas”.
En este sentido recordó el fenómeno migratorio del Mediterráneo: “Cuánto dolor sentimos al ver a nuestros hermanos y hermanas morir en el mar porque no les permiten desembarcar. Y esto, ¡algunos en nombre de Dios!”.
