Dos cardenales viajarán en los próximos días a Ucrania, tras visitar Polonia y Hungría, enviados desde el Vaticano por el papa Francisco para llevar ayuda a la población ucraniana, informó hoy la Santa Sede, que “se ha puesto al servicio de la instauración de la paz”.
El cardenal Konrad Krajewski, Limosnero Apostólico, llegará hoy a la frontera entre Polonia y Ucrania, mientras que el cardenal Michael Czerny, Prefecto ad interim del Dicasterio para el Servicio del Desarrollo Humano Integral, es esperado mañana en Hungría, reseñó EFE.
Ambos visitarán algunos centros de acogida para los migrantes procedentes de Ucrania antes de dirigirse a ese país, al que “dependiendo de la situación llegarán en los próximos días”, indicó la oficina de prensa vaticana en un comunicado.
“Los cardenales llevarán ayuda a los necesitados y serán ‘la presencia no solo del Papa, sino de todo el pueblo cristiano’”, dijo la Santa Sede al retomar las palabras de este domingo de Francisco tras el rezo del Ángelus, cuando “en un gesto extraordinario” anunció la misión de los dos cardenales a la zona de guerra.
“En Ucrania corren ríos de sangre y de lágrimas. No se trata solo de una operación militar, sino de guerra, que siembra muerte, destrucción y miseria”, dijo el pontífice, que instó al cese inmediato de los ataques armados, a que prevalezca el diálogo y a que se vuelva a respetar el Derecho Internacional, además de pedir que se garanticen “de verdad” los corredores humanitarios.
El envío de los dos cardenales a Ucrania por parte del papa “pretende también dirigir la atención sobre las numerosas situaciones similares en todo el mundo”, añadió el Vaticano, al recordar que, el domingo anterior, Francisco dijo sentirse “con el corazón desgarrado por todo lo que sucede en Ucrania, y no olvidemos la guerra en otros lugares del mundo, como Yemen, Siria, Etiopía…”.
“El cardenal Czerny seguirá señalando la triste similitud entre los sufrimientos de los ucranianos y los conflictos de larga duración que ya no atraen la atención del mundo. Además, planteará su preocupación por que se permita a los residentes africanos y asiáticos en Ucrania, que también sufren miedo y desplazamiento, buscar refugio sin discriminación”, se explica en la nota.
El Vaticano también se refirió a “informes preocupantes sobre el aumento de las actividades de tráfico de personas y la introducción ilegal de inmigrantes en las fronteras y en los países vecinos”.
Además, Czerny, “dado que la mayoría de las personas que huyen son creyentes, afirmará que debe ofrecerse asistencia religiosa a todos, con sensibilidad a las diferencias ecuménicas e interconfesionales”.
“Por último, en los loables esfuerzos por ofrecer respuestas humanitarias y organizar corredores humanitarios, hay una gran necesidad de coordinación, de buena organización y de estrategia compartida, para abarcar el sufrimiento de la gente y proporcionar una ayuda eficaz”, concluyó el Vaticano.
