Según el recuento independiente que realiza la Universidad Johns Hopkins, con datos recopilados en diferentes fuentes oficiales, el número de contagios conocidos de COVID-19, un virus que se dio a conocer hace poco más de dos años, alcanzó este viernes los 300 millones 338 mil 680.
Los datos actualizados de muertes en todo el mundo que da la Johns Hopkins son de 5.472.939, con Estados Unidos a la cabeza (833.988), seguido por los 619.654 fallecidos de Brasil, los 483.178 de India, 307.488 de Rusia y 299.970 de México.
En cuanto a casos, Estados Unidos es el país con una mayor incidencia, con 57,7 millones, seguido de India con 31,1 millones, Brasil con 22,3, Reino Unido con 13,9, Francia con 11 y Rusia con 10,4 millones.
Los primeros cien millones de contagios en todo el mundo se alcanzaron a finales de enero de 2021, poco más de un año después de conocerse la enfermedad, pero esa cifra se duplicó en siete meses, alcanzándose los 200 millones a principios de agosto pasado.
