El Carnaval de Barranquilla no será cancelado pese a la presencia de ómicron

La Alcaldía de Barranquilla ratificó que el Carnaval 2022 se celebrará en las fechas previamente asignadas. En la mañana de este jueves el gerente de Ciudad, Carlos Acosta, descartó cualquier posibilidad de cancelar la festividad más importante de la capital del Atlántico.

Durante una rueda de prensa, Acosta indicó que la Junta Directiva del Carnaval de Barranquilla ya está trabajando en las medidas que se van a adoptar durante las fiestas para que sean seguras, y que estas serán anunciadas en las siguientes semanas.

Además, Acosta aseguró que para cuando se realice el Carnaval, del 26 de febrero al 1 de marzo, el pico de contagios de COVID-19 provocado por la variante Ómicron ya debe haber pasado y en ese entonces habría un valle de casos.

“El Carnaval no se va a cancelar. Se va a hacer de manera responsable, cuidando la salud de las personas”, aseguró el gerente.

El funcionario destacó el actual pico de contagios de COVID-19 que sigue en ascenso no está afectando los servicios sanitarios de la ciudad, y recordó que más del 70% de los habitantes de Barranquilla ya tienen el esquema de vacunación completo. “Estamos blindados”, señaló.
