El Barcelona ganó 4-2 a la Real Sociedad en un comienzo esperanzador para el club culé y en un nuevo ciclo sin el mejor jugador de la historia del club, Leo Messi, que se vio bien en Camp Nou con público por primera vez desde el inicio de la pandemia.
Dos goles de Martin Braithwaite, uno de Gerard Piqué y otro de Sergi Roberto dieron el triunfo por 4-2 al Barcelona ante la Real Sociedad, que hizo sufrir a los azulgranas con los tantos de Julen Lobete y Mikel Oyarzabal en la recta final.
Memphis comandó desde el primer minuto la ofensiva azulgrana. Con su movilidad, su desborde y sus ganas de agradar al escaso pero animoso público del Camp Nou, que hoy rompía su silencio 1 año, 5 meses y 8 días después, curiosamente ante el mismo rival que había presenciado en directo por última vez.
A Le Normand, le hizo un sombrero de espuela, a Griezmann le puso un centro que el francés cabeceó al larguero y a Piqué le regaló el 1-0, en la jugada siguiente, al botar con precisión un falta desde la frontal que el central remató al fondo de la red a los 19 minutos.
El propio Memphis estuvo a punto de anotar su gol, antes de la media hora, tras una bonita combinación con De Jong y Braithwaite, pero su remate, ya algo forzado, lo atajó Remiro.
Salió el Barça intenso desde el pitido inicial, presionando a la Real muy arriba y fabricando ocasión tras ocasión. El primer disparo de Braithwaite se encontró con Remiro en la primera jugada del choque. Y luego Griezmann estuvo a punto de batir al meta visitante con una acrobática tijera que se marchó fuera por poco antes de su testarazo a la madera.
La Real, exigida, agobiada y llegando casi siempre tarde al recital azulgrana, abusó del juego duro en la primera mitad. A Alguacil no le gustaba lo que estaba viendo y en la pausa de hidratación le pidió a sus hombres que apretaran al Barça más arriba.
Los de Koeman sufrieron algo más en la recta final del primer acto, pero el conjunto donostiarra no lograba inquietar a Neto, y Braithwaite, en el añadido, cabeceaba un obús a centro de De Jong para hacer el 2-0.
Sin Isak ni Monreal, pero con los olímpicos Zubimendi, Merino y Oyarzabal en el once, la Real le costaba un mundo fabricar fútbol, y su entrenador sentó al descanso a Januzaj y Silva, desaparecidos en combate, para dar entrada a Barrenaextxea y Bautista en busca de más movilidad.
Sin embargo, de nuevo sería el Barcelona el que golpearía primero, aunque esta vez, un claro fuera de juego de De Jong, anulaba el tanto de Griezmann.
Aun así, la Real mejoró bastante en este inicio de la segunda mitad. El conjunto vasco adelantó las líneas, ahogando la salida de balón de su rival y, por fin, remató a portería, aunque sin encontrar los tres palos, en dos acciones de Oyarzabal.
Pero de nuevo apareció Memphis, por banda izquierda para demostrar su calidad, atrayendo a dos defensas de la Real antes de habilitar a Jordi Alba, que asistía a Braithwaite desde la línea de fondo para el 3-0.
Merino puso por primera vez a prueba a Neto poco después, pero a estas alturas del choque, el cuadro guipuzcoano parecía haber capitulado ante un Barça muy superior.
Pedri tuvo el cuarto, pero Remiro la sacó cuando se colaba por la escuadra. Parecía que el partido estaba decidido, pero el debutante Julen Lobete ganó la partida a un recién ingresado Emerson en una contra para fusilar a Neto y recortar distancias en el 82.
Un falta inexistente del debutante Nico González, la lanzó Oyarzabal de forma magistral para hacer el 3-2, tres minutos después. Pero en el tiempo añadido, Braithwaite asistía en otro contragolpe a Sergi Roberto para hacer el cuarto, y el Camp Nou, de luto por Messi pero de fiesta por poder a disfrutar de nuevo en directo de su equipo, respiraba tranquilo.
