El arte digital hizo su primera aparición en la principal feria de arte contemporáneo de Oriente Medio, en Dubái, rico emirato que aspira a convertirse en un centro internacional de criptomonedas.
La 15ª edición de Art Dubái, que acogió hasta el domingo a más de 100 marchantes de arte locales y extranjeros, dedicó un ala entera al arte virtual, con 17 galerías y plataformas que venden NFT u objetos digitales autentificados.
Los NFT son certificados de autenticidad y propiedad que no pueden ser falsificados, basados en la tecnología blockchain, la misma que autentifica las transacciones de criptodivisas.
La directora ejecutiva de Art Dubai, Benedetta Ghione, explicó la decisión por el «interés y las preguntas» que generan, pero también por «el papel único que Dubái quiere desempeñar como centro emergente de criptomonedas».
«Era el momento y el lugar adecuados», aseguró.
Tras firmar un acuerdo en diciembre con Binance, la mayor plataforma de criptomonedas del mundo, las autoridades de Emiratos anunciaron la semana pasada que aprobarían una ley de activos virtuales y crearían una autoridad reguladora de las criptomonedas.

Este paso «refuerza la posición de Emiratos en este sector» y garantiza «la transparencia y la seguridad de los inversores», dijo en Twitter el soberano de Dubái, el jeque Mohammed bin Rached Al Maktum.

Se trata de una artista libanesa que crea imágenes animadas a partir de collages que representan su ciudad, Beirut, bajo la apariencia de una mujer.
El auge mundial del NFT, ilustrado por la venta récord el año pasado de la obra del artista estadounidense Beeple por más de 68 millones de dólares, también ha animado a la galería Emergeast a convertirse al arte digital.
