Ecuador prolonga estado de excepción por violencia

El presidente de Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, renovó por otros 30 días un estado de excepción decretado para hacer frente al aumento de la violencia a causa del narcotráfico, informó la Secretaría de Comunicación de la Presidencia.

El decreto «dispone la movilización de las Fuerzas Armadas» en nueve de las 24 provincias para complementar las funciones de la Policía Nacional de control cooperativo en los ámbitos requeridos de seguridad ciudadana, protección interna, prevención de delito», señaló la cartera en un comunicado, refiere la agencia DW.

El estado de excepción se aplica en El Oro, Guayas, Santa Elena, Manabí, Los Ríos, Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Pichincha y Sucumbíos.

Lasso había declarado el 18 de octubre el estado de excepción debido al aumento de la criminalidad vinculada al narcotráfico. En principio este debía durar 60 días, pero la Corte Constitucional lo limitó a 30 al considerar que el gobierno no justificó por qué debía extenderse por dos meses.

Entonces, Lasso alegó que el país enfrentaba una «grave conmoción interna» y atribuyó la violencia al narcotráfico.
