El presidente colombiano, Iván Duque, espera entregar de aquí al 7 de agosto de 2022, cuando finaliza su mandato, 1,8 millones del permiso de protección temporal para migrantes venezolanos.
«Queremos lograr una entrega masiva de aquí al 7 de agosto del año 2022; tener 1,8 millones de tarjetas del Estatuto (de Protección Temporal) entregadas», dijo el gobernante colombiano, al participar en la conmemoración del Día Internacional del Migrante, en el municipio de Chía, aledaño a Bogotá.
Para Duque lograr esa meta es el «gran triunfo de una política migratoria, como la merece el mundo en el siglo XXI».
Colombia ha recibido cerca de dos millones de venezolanos que dejaron su país en los últimos años para escapar de la crisis política, económica y social que allí se vive, reseña EFE.
El año pasado el Gobierno colombiano presentó el Estatuto de Protección Temporal que permitirá a esa población regularizar su situación en el país por un periodo de diez años.
La tarjeta les permitirá mayor facilidad para acceder a contratos laborales, educación, a las entidades de salud o a cuentas bancarias, entre otros aspectos.
«Nuestro deber moral en el Día Internacional del Migrante es decirles a estas personas, sobre todo a quienes están llegando a nuestro país, que no están solos. Somos conscientes de que muchos de ustedes han tenido que salir de sus tierras, de su hogar, en busca de esperanza y de un abrazo», expresó el jefe de Estado.
Destacó que el Estatuto busca hacer visibles a los migrantes y abrirles las puertas a servicios de salud, educación, empleo, vivienda.
«Este Estatuto es la demostración de la fraternidad, es un verdadero acto de paz, es un verdadero acto de consolidación de una hermandad», indicó el Jefe de Estado, quien manifestó: «Cada tarjeta del Estatuto Temporal de Protección que se entrega es el abrazo de 50 millones de colombianos», aseguró.
Por su lado, la jefa de la Misión de la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) en Colombia, Ana Durán Salvatierra, dijo que con su política migratoria Colombia es un modelo para el mundo.
«Colombia es hoy un ejemplo para el mundo, y sus avances y enseñanzas en la garantía de los derechos humanos de estas poblaciones (de migrantes) se constituyen en un modelo a seguir para lograr una migración segura y digna, en línea con los principios fundamentales de la Agenda 2030 y los ODS (Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible), de no dejar a nadie atrás», concluyó Durán.
