El ex director de acción sanitaria en situaciones de crisis de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, Daniel López Acuña, advirtió que no se puede banalizar la gravedad de Ómicron en el mundo.
Destacó que el planeta no está en una situación unifactorial que explique porque una onda es mayor que otra, sino que un conjunto de factores influye.
“Afecta mucho que Ómicron sea siete veces más contagiosa que las variantes anteriores aunque no sea tan mortal”, añadió.
López Acuña recordó que cuando una variante como esta se junta con bajas tasas de vacunación y saturación del sistema sanitario, es una combinación muy peligrosa que explica la expansión de Ómicron.
Resaltó que factores de riesgo como hipertensión y obesidad deben ser atendidos a largo plazo pero con la vacunación afectan menos.
“Si la gente se vacuna tendrá, aun con comorbilidades, más protecciones y menos riesgo de muerte y hospitalización”, acotó
Según reseña Mundo UR, el experto insistió en que relajar las medidas de bioseguridad lleva a una red de contagios enormes.
“La experiencia de Europa muestra que no llevar las medidas de protección de forma estricta, deja un crecimiento intensificado en contagios”, puntualizó.
