Las autoridades chilenas informaron este lunes que dos personas resultaron gravemente heridas luego de sufrir un ataque incendiario contra su domicilio la madrugada del domingo en la conflictiva región de La Araucanía, en el sur del país.
“Individuos a rostro cubierto y premunidos con armas largas de fuego procedieron a intimidar una familia constituida por un matrimonio y un hijo, sacándolos del inmueble para posteriormente incendiarlo”, explicó el mayor del cuerpo policial de Carabineros (Policía militarizada) Javier Sepúlveda, reseñó EFE.
Según señaló el oficial, “producto del fuego el matrimonio resultó con lesiones de gravedad, por lo que fueron trasladados al hospital”.
El hecho, ocurrido en la comuna de Carahue y por el que aún no hay detenidos, se suma a las decenas de casos de violencia que se han sucedido en la llamada “macrozona sur” durante el último año, entre ellos ataques a maquinaria agrícola y predios, sabotajes, cortes de carreteras y tiroteos con víctimas mortales.
Algunos de estos episodios se enmarcan en el denominado “conflicto mapuche”, que enfrenta al Estado chileno y al principal grupo indígena del país, que reclama las tierras que habitaron durante siglos y que ahora pertenecen, en su mayoría, a grandes empresas agrícolas y forestales que adquirieron las propiedades durante la dictadura militar de Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).
Los acontecimientos violentos en esta disputa, que se incrementaron un 94 % en los primeros 6 meses de 2021, según cifras policiales, han sido uno de los principales escollos del actual Gobierno del conservador Sebastián Piñera.
