Las dos primeras extradiciones a los Estados Unidos de América, de miembros del Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN), se están cumpliendo a este jueves con su entrega por parte de Interpol al Alguacil General Comisionado de la Embajada de Estados Unidos.
Se trata de Henry Trigos Celón y Yamit Picón Rodríguez, alias ‘Chonta’, señalados integrantes de esta organización guerrillera y cuya autoridad requirente es la Corte del Distrito Sur del Estado de Texas, que los solicita para respondan por delitos relacionados con narcotráfico.
El ministro de justicia y del derecho, Wilson Ruiz Orejuela, aseguró que Picón Rodríguez es sindicado de ser cabecilla financiero del frente Nororiental del ELN, en el Magdalena, y de hacer negocios con el Cartel de Sinaloa; mientras que Trigos está señalado de almacenar y distribuir drogas en Norte de Santander.
“Estas dos personas deben responder por sus delitos ante la justicia norteamericana luego de que en mayo pasado la Corte Suprema de Justicia entregara concepto favorable para su extradición”, indicó el ministro Ruiz Orejuela.
Igualmente, la Sala Penal de la Corte Suprema de Justicia rindió concepto favorable para la extradición de Franco Ruiz, otro miembro del Ejército de Liberación Nacional pedido en extradición por los Estados Unidos y presunto enlace del narcotráfico del frente ‘Manuel Vásquez Castaño’.
Un cuarto miembro de esta organización al margen de la ley, José Gabriel Álvarez, también será extraditado en los próximos días a los Estados Unidos.
De acuerdo con el director del INPEC, general Mariano Botero Coy, la entrega de Álvarez se aplazó debido a que actualmente se encuentra aislado en la penitenciaría La Picota de Bogotá, luego de dar positivo para Covid-19 en un reciente examen médico. “Tan pronto termine su cuarentena y supere el contagio, será enviado a los Estados Unidos”, enfatizó el general Botero.
Álvarez es acusado de coordinar reuniones entre organizaciones delincuenciales transnacionales para abastecerlas de sustancias alucinógenas. Al igual que Trigos y Picón, está requerido por la Corte del Distrito sur de Texas.
Otro colombiano que fue extraditado este jueves a territorio norteamericano es el ex integrante del Bloque Calima de las Autodefensas, Alexander Montoya Úsuga, quien deberá responder ante la Corte del Distrito Sur de la Florida por delitos de narcotráfico.
Montoya Úsuga no ha terminado de cumplir su pena en Colombia, por lo que una vez pague la condena ante la justicia estadounidense deberá regresar al país para seguir respondiendo por los delitos de homicidio en persona protegida, concierto para delinquir agravado, desaparición forzada y hurto calificado.
