A horas de que Televisa estrene la serie “El último rey”, producida por Juan Osorio y basada en el libro escrito por Olga Wornat sobre la vida del cantante Vicente Fernández, la viuda de éste, María del Refugio Abarca Villaseñor, ha compartido un video en el que expresa su rechazo hacia dicho proyecto.
En el clip -publicado en la cuenta de Instagram de Vicente Fernández Jr.– Doña Cuquita es directa y habla sobre los motivos por los que está en contra de la adaptación de esa biografía no autorizada por la familia de el charro de Huentitán: “Buenos días. Quiero decirle a todo el público que estoy muy triste por todo lo que está pasando ahorita. Vicente se fue, pero creo que hay gente que está abusando de su nombre. Hicieron una serie desde octubre, la sacaron ahora que ya no está él, pero si él estuviera, no estuviera ayudando y no estuviera apoyando”.

Es la primera vez que la señora Abarca se muestra ante cámaras para expresar su sentir acerca de la serie que se ha promocionado desde hace varias semanas. Ella concluyó su mensaje diciendo: “Si creen que estoy sola, no estoy sola. Si creen que pueden abusar de mí, no. Tengo a mi familia, tengo a todo el público que me apoya y que creo mucho en las leyes, que también son muy importantes. Les agradezco mucho, muchas gracias a todo el público”.
El video de doña Cuquita complementa un comunicado que compartió la tarde del domingo 13 de marzo, en el que remarcó la preferencia de la familia Fernández y el propio cantante -quien falleció el 12 de diciembre de 2021- por la serie producida por la empresa colombiana Caracol que se estrenará en la cadena de streaming Netflix; asimismo, remarcó que el artista “registró sus marcas, su nombre artístico y la ley protege su imagen”. Con respecto a Pablo Montero (quien interpreta a Vicente en “El último rey”), comentó que “Pablo es un buen muchacho, pero él sabe que su imagen no es la que Vicente hubiera aprobado y sabe que desde noviembre estaba él participando en lo oscurito en la ilegal serie de Televisa, mientras Vicente luchaba por su vida, diciéndose supuesto amigo de la familia“.
