Tras un arduo procedimiento de investigación realizado por pesquisas de la Delegación Municipal Maracaibo, se logró la ubicación y captura de un supervisor jefe del Cuerpo Policial del estado Zulia (CPBEZ), Hernán José Castillo Roda (39) y el oficial Yovanny Fabián Jiménez Silva (22), quienes conformaban el grupo hamponil Los Ratones de Cinco de Julio, dedicados al tráfico y comercio de material estratégico.
Con la pesquisas, se pudo conocer que los mencionados junto a El Mono, Prapra, Lápiz y Ratón, aún por identificar y detener; operaban en el sector El Lago, parroquia Olegario Villalobos, municipio Maracaibo, estado Zulia; y los funcionarios se encargaban de notificarle al resto de los delincuentes, las tanquillas subterráneas pertenecientes a Cantv, a las que podían ingresar y obtener los conductores eléctricos y telefónicos, con la intención de sustraer el cobre y luego llevarlo a la República de Colombia, para su comercialización.
Al ser ubicados y verse acorralado por los funcionarios del CICPC, en Bomba Caribe, parroquia Idelfonso Vásquez, intentaron evadir a la comisión, originándose una persecución que culminó a los pocos metros, donde se les ubicaron 780 metros de conductor eléctrico, dos distintivos alusivos al referido organismo de seguridad, varias herramientas y se recuperó un Chevrolet C-31, placas 54BPAH, utilizado como medio de comisión.
El CICPC continuará las investigaciones para detener al resto de los criminales involucrados, ya que con este hecho delictivo se vieron afectados más de 10 mil 700 usuarios.
