En el marco de la Operación Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro, el superintendente nacional antidrogas, Richard López Vargas, informó que la dirección nacional Antidrogas del Cuerpo de Policía Nacional Bolivariana (CPNB), logró desmantelar un laboratorio para el procesamiento de drogas en la Cota 905, parroquia El Paraíso en Caracas.
De acuerdo con la página web de esta institución, este laboratorio-en el que se producían anfetaminas y la droga denominada “perico”-estaba ubicado en una vivienda tipo “garita” en el Callejón Vargas de la Cota 905, con línea de vista al Helicoide sede de CPNB y hacia zonas de la parroquia El Cementerio en Caracas. Desde este lugar los grupos delictivos que operaban en el sector se ocultaban y disparaban contra la población y los organismos de seguridad.
López Vargas aseveró que este hallazgo se logró producto del escudriñamiento, la investigación y la recuperación de los espacios, en consonancia a una acción integral que se está haciendo en toda la Cota 905 como parte de la Operación Gran Cacique Indio Guaicaipuro desde el punto de vista social y policial.
Afirmó que durante la operación se detectaron varias evidencias de interés criminalístico que eran utilizadas por las bandas criminales, las cuales improvisaban con la mezcla de sustancias químicas controladas para generar el mayor daño posible en el cuerpo humano.

El bicarbonato de sodio o la pasta base de coca encontradas eran procedentes de la República de Colombia, “aquí (laboratorio) tenían el calentador, el extractor y la pasta base para el procesamientos de las drogas, así como las armas de fuego para garantizar la seguridad de estos grupos estructurados de delincuencia organizada», señaló el superintendente.
Resaltó que la unión de estas sustancias afecta seriamente el sistema nervioso y neurológico de quienes lo consumen, “por lo tanto generan un comportamiento inusual y desconectado de la realidad, es precisamente lo que buscan estos delincuentes para destruir a la juventud” y hacer que actuaran agresivamente contra los organismos de seguridad del Estado.
López Vargas afirmó que las fuerzas del Estado continúan en la Cota 905 atendiendo a las comunidades, “el Fondo Nacional Antidrogas (FONA) se encuentra rescatando espacios deportivos y se mantienen activas las reuniones con las Grandes Bases de Misiones y la Gran Misión Barrio Nuevo Barrio Tricolor para abordar de manera integral todos los espacios de la Cota 905”.
