Decretan 15 días de duelo nacional en Haití por el asesinato del presidente Jovenel Moïse

El primer ministro interino de Haití, Claude Joseph, tras un Consejo de Ministros, estableció 15 días de duelo nacional por el asesinato del presidente Jovenel Moïse, ocurrido la madrugada de este miércoles.

La medida, que rige del 8 al 22 de julio, fue publicada en el diario oficial del país Le Moniteur, según reseña el portal Le Nouvelliste.

Durante este tiempo, dice el decreto, la bandera nacional será izada a media asta, las discotecas y otros establecimientos similares permanecerán cerrados, y se insta a las estaciones de radio y televisión a emitir «programas y música para la ocasión«.

Además del duelo nacional, en el país se estableció el estado de sitio, anunció Joseph en una alocución pública que hizo tras la muerte de Moïse. Más tarde, se conoció que la medida regirá también durante 15 días.

El magnicidio

El asesinato de Moïse ocurrió alrededor de la una de la madrugada, cuando un grupo de individuos armados aún desconocidos, «algunos de los cuales hablaban español«, atacaron la residencia privada del mandatario, informó Joseph en un comunicado.

En el ataque armado a la vivienda, ubicada en el barrio de Pelerin de Puerto Príncipe, resultó herida la primera dama del país, Martine Moïse, quien fue trasladada a un hospital de Puerto Príncipe.

En horas de la mañana hubo reportes que indicaban que la primera dama también había fallecido; sin embargo, según informó el embajador de Haití en República Dominicana, Smith Augustin, Martine se encuentra «estable» y recibe los «cuidados que merece su caso en un hospital de Puerto Príncipe«.

Entretanto, el embajador de Haití en EE.UU., Bocchit Edmond, dijo a The Guardian que están haciendo las gestiones para trasladar a la primera dama a un hospital en Miami para que sea tratada.

El magnicidio se produjo a menos de tres meses de celebrarse las elecciones presidenciales y legislativas en Haití, previstas para el 26 de septiembre, a las que Moïse no podía presentarse.
