El fiscal general de la Corte Penal Internacional (CPI), Karim Khan, anunció este jueves en Bogotá que su oficina cerrará el caso de supuestos crímenes de guerra y de lesa humanidad cometidos durante el conflicto armado en Colombia.
«Colombia está a la altura de sus obligaciones internacionales y me complace decir que me puedo retirar de la etapa de examen preliminar», aseguró Khan, quien puntualizó que esto no quiere decir que la CPI no siga mirando a Colombia, sino el comienzo de una «nueva relación», con una «interacción continua», publica EFE.
Khan, que sustituyó el pasado junio a la fiscal Fatou Bensouda en La Haya, cerró así el examen preliminar que más tiempo lleva abierto en la CPI, desde 2004, y que involucra crímenes de guerra y lesa humanidad cometidos por el Ejército, la extinta guerrilla de las FARC y grupos paramilitares desde 2009 (los primeros) y 2002 (los de lesa humanidad).
