Los investigadores recogieron líquido cefalorraquídeo del veterinario en abril y lo identificaron como positivo al ‘virus del mono’, aunque las muestras de sus contactos cercanos sugirieron resultados negativos a la enfermedad.
El herpes B, identificado por primera vez en 1932, es un alfaherpesvirus enzoótico prevalente en macacos que puede transmitirse por contacto directo y el intercambio de secreciones corporales –al igual que el virus del herpes simple (VHS) en los seres humanos– y tiene una tasa de mortalidad del 70 % al 80 %.
