Con una serie de actividades culturales, desde exposiciones fotográficas hasta presentaciones de gaita tambora y musicales, la Secretaría de Cultura de la Gobernación del Zulia, rinde un merecido homenaje a Juan de Dios Martínez, por celebrarse el Día de la Afrozulianidad, hoy 16 de marzo, día en que nació este exponente cultor popular.
El acto conmemorativo se realizará en presencia de autoridades regionales y municipales de la Alcaldía de San Francisco, en el Ateneo de esa localidad, a las 5:00 de la tarde.
Viviana Márquez, secretaria de Cultura, informó que el homenaje comprende la Exposición Fotográfica “Chimbanguele Soy”, de Otilio Delgado, quien recrea en su obra diversas manifestaciones de las celebraciones del culto al Santo Negro y a la música afrodescendiente.
Además, incluye la presentación de las Danzas Típicas Maracaibo, de Teatro Infantil, Tambores Afrovenezolanos, Gaita de Tambora, en vivo, con la participación dancística de 160 bailarines en escena, conformado por la Escuela Danzas Típicas Maracaibo, Escuela Integral de Danza Adagio y las agrupaciones de danzas infantiles y juveniles del Instituto Público Municipal de Cultura «Juan de Dios Martínez».
Este evento también contará con otros géneros musicales, como guaracha zuliana, espacio en el cual actuará el Ensamble de Guaracha Willy Quintero.
De igual manera y junto con el Instituto Municipal de Cultura de San Francisco se entregarán reconocimientos a personalidades de amplia trayectoria, cuya grandeza, valores y tradiciones de la cultura afrozuliana ha sido su norte.
Juan de Dios Martínez, nació el 16 de marzo de 1945, en Bobures, Sur del Lago de Maracaibo, hijo de Pedro Martínez y María Isabel de Jesús Suárez. Hombre de principios, destacado como padre, enamorado y defensor de las costumbres afrozulianas que dejaron en la transculturación del estado.
Se convirtió en un investigador con más de 70 publicaciones e incontables reconocimientos, incluyendo los de la UNESCO. Fue creador de La Fundación Ajé, escritor y gran maestro en la difusión de los mitos, leyendas y tradiciones de los pueblos del Sur del Lago de Maracaibo y devoto a San Benito de Palermo.
Martínez es una referencia obligatoria en la cultura popular afrovenezolana y muy especialmente de la construcción del tejido histórico y cultural de las raíces afro en el estado Zulia.
