El evento se extenderá hasta el sábado 18 de diciembre en la modalidad virtual, ante los rebrotes de COVID-19 en Europa y la amenaza de la variante Ómicron del coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
El encuentro será presidido por el secretario general de la Comisión Nacional de Sri Lanka para la Unesco, Punchi Nilame Meegaswatte, refiere el portal Prensa Latina.
Las propuestas bajo análisis incluyen 45 candidaturas de inscripción en la Lista representativa del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad, cinco en la de patrimonio cultural inmaterial que precisa medidas urgentes de salvaguardia y cinco para integrar el registro de buenas prácticas de salvaguardia.
Entre las solicitudes de incorporación también está La Fiesta Grande de Tarija (Bolivia), El Pasillo (Ecuador) y danzas y expresiones asociadas a la festividad del Corpus Christi (Panamá) e igualmente los valores, conocimientos, saberes y prácticas del pueblo Awajún sobre la producción de cerámica (Perú).
Respecto a la lista representativa del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad, incluye hasta el momento 492 elementos.
