Las autoridades sanitarias de Colombia detectaron este lunes los primeros tres casos de la variante ómicron de la covid-19 en viajeros que llegaron de Estados Unidos y España, aunque señalaron que aún no ha sido «identificada ninguna circulación comunitaria».
«El Instituto Nacional de Salud (INS), con base en los análisis realizados por la red genómica nacional, ha detectado tres casos de la variante ómicron en Colombia. Estos tres casos son de viajeros que venían de otros lugares del mundo: dos de ellos de EEUU y uno de España», explicó el ministro de Salud, Fernando Ruiz.
Los casos, agregó Ruiz, fueron detectados en las ciudades caribeñas de Cartagena de Indias y Santa Marta y los contagiados son dos colombianos y un estadounidense, reseñó EFE.
«Esta situación concuerda con lo que veníamos anunciando desde hace varias semanas de la inminente llegada de la variante a Colombia», dijo el ministro, quien recordó que la ómicron «ya se encuentra circulando en 80 países».
