Las autoridades colombianas continúan este sábado buscando a al menos 11 mineros que quedaron atrapados en una mina de oro del municipio colombiano de Neira, en departamento de Caldas (centro), y cuya suerte se desconoce tras el accidente ocurrido el viernes.
En un principio las autoridades aseguraron que eran al menos 15 los desaparecidos, pero el secretario de Gobierno de Caldas, Jhon Jairo Castaño, confirmó hoy a periodistas que son 11 mineros atrapados, de los cuales ya fueron identificados ocho.
El accidente ocurrió en un sector conocido como El Bosque, en una mina de oro que, según las autoridades, opera al aparecer de forma ilegal y cuyo socavón se inundó por el aumento del caudal del río Cauca, el segundo en importancia de Colombia.
La emergencia es atendida por los bomberos de la localidad de Irra, en el vecino departamento de Risaralda, que está más cercana a la zona del accidente que la cabecera municipal de Neira.
Igualmente a la zona se desplazaron los organismos de socorro, el Ejército, la Policía y funcionarios de la Alcaldía de Neira, un municipio cafetero que está enclavado en la Cordillera Central colombiana.
También participan 10 socorredores, un ingeniero y un mecánico de equipos del punto de Seguridad y Salvamento Minero de la Agencia Nacional de Minería (ANM) en la localidad de Marmato, cercana al lugar del accidente, para atender la emergencia.
Igualmente fueron instaladas motobombas para extraer el agua porque hay cuatro bocaminas que están inundadas.
“Se estuvo trabajando con motobombas durante toda la noche para extraer el agua contenida. En el sitio están cinco bomberos de Neira, cuatro de Irra, cuatro de (el municipio de) Quinchía, cinco de (la localidad de) Ríosucio, 13 socorristas de la ANM, un paramédico y siete miembros de la Defensa Civil”, detalló la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente de Caldas.
El pasado 20 de febrero tres personas murieron y dos más resultaron heridas en otro accidente ocurrido en una mina del municipio de Buriticá, en el departamento de Antioquia (noroeste).
