El vicepresidente de la Conferencia Episcopal Venezolana, monseñor Ulises Gutiérrez habló acerca de la elección de la nueva presidencia de la CEV.
El nuevo presidente es monseñor Jesús González de Zárate, con respecto a esta nueva responsabilidad asumida Gutiérrez expresó que «recibimos con alegría y entusiasmo este compromiso», reseñó Mundo UR.
«La principal meta de la CEV es luchar por un país libre y democrático, transformar esta crisis», dijo el Monseñor.
Además, el sacerdote aseguró que desde la Conferencia esperan «lograr el retorno de los hermanos venezolanos que están fuera del país».

El Monseñor Gutiérrez, comentó también que «la iglesia no es un actor político ni económico, pero estamos llamados a ser factores de diálogo»
Luego del proceso electoral que se llevó a cabo en el país el pasado mes de diciembre, el sacerdote afirmó que «fueron elecciones amañadas»; y por esto, la iglesia planifica «seguir en la lucha por la justicia».
