El exseleccionador de Venezuela y Bolivia, César Farías, reconoció el acercamiento fallido de tres empresarios que intentaron llevarlo a la selección de Ecuador, que hasta este jueves continúa sin entrenador y en medio de un desencuentro con el argentino Gustavo Alfaro.
«Tres empresarios del fútbol me llamaron para decirme que vaya a la selección ecuatoriana. Les dije que muchas gracias, pero no creo que esos sean los caminos» para llegar a una selección, indicó Farías. El técnico actualmente dirige al Aucas, con el que quedó campeón de la liga de Ecuador la pasada temporada.
César Farías, que recientemente fue premiado como el mejor técnico de 2022 de la Liga Pro de Ecuador, insistió «que ese no es el camino para recibir la propuesta de una selección. No voy a quedarle debiendo favores a nadie, para que después tenga que traer o poner a un jugador».
«Yo no me manejo así y creo que las selecciones no se manejan así», añadió Farías. Ecuador sigue extendiendo el análisis de las opciones que se le presentaron para encontrar al sustituto de Alfaro, que clasificó y dirigió al equipo hasta la fase de grupos del Mundial de Catar 2022.
Farías afirmó, durante la entrevista en el programa «Debate Fútbol» en un canal de televisión local, que tampoco se va ir del Aucas.
Entretanto, el entorno de Alfaro señaló que recurrirá al asesoramiento legal para cobrarle a la FEF valores pendientes con cifras millonarias. Estas incluirían sueldos atrasados y premios por la clasificación al Mundial de Catar 2022.
