La captura por parte de organismos de inteligencia se logró en el estacionamiento de un lujoso hotel de la ciudad de Puerto Ordaz donde fueron atrapados en flagrancia ya que portaban en un contenedor hermético 230 HgO, serie MP 175 de mercurio de fabricación alemana.
El grupo se desplazaba en un vehículo Peugeot, modelo 408 año 2.012, placas AA 965 BM color negro. También le fue decomisada un arma de fuego.
