Boeing espera realizar un vuelo de prueba de su cápsula CST-100 Starliner no tripulada en la primera mitad de 2022, y un posible lanzamiento de su nave espacial tripulada a fines del próximo año, informaron funcionarios de la compañía este martes.
El CST-100 se había programado para volar hacia la Estación Espacial Internacional (ISS) desde Cabo Cañaveral, Florida, el 3 de agosto, pero el vuelo fue abortado pocas horas antes del lanzamiento debido a problemas con las válvulas del sistema de propulsión.
Los funcionarios de Boeing dijeron a los periodistas en una sesión informativa el martes que todavía estaban realizando pruebas de las válvulas, pero que es posible que se hayan atascado por humedad o condensación.
«La humedad ambiental normal probablemente fue la fuente de esa humedad en las válvulas«, explicó Michelle Parker, ingeniera en jefe de Boeing Space and Launch.
