El secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, Antony Blinken, confió este jueves en reforzar la coordinación con España en lo relativo a Cuba, Venezuela y Nicaragua, durante su primer contacto telefónico con el nuevo ministro español de Asuntos Exteriores, José Manuel Albares.
Durante la llamada telefónica, Blinken «abogó por negociaciones exhaustivas que lleven a elecciones libres y justas en Venezuela» y «detalló sus preocupaciones respecto a Nicaragua», según el Departamento de Estado, reseñó EFE.
Blinken telefoneó a Albares, que se convirtió este mes en titular de Exteriores de España, para «felicitarlo por su nuevo cargo» y abordar temas de interés común.
La llamada se produjo una semana después de que la Casa Blanca desvelara una estrategia hacia Cuba que pasa por intentar aumentar la presión internacional contra La Habana, y asegurara que planeaba pedir ayuda a otros Gobiernos para que le ayudaran en ese sentido.
