La historia de Ingrid Olderöck es oscura y perturbadora. Su maldad la convirtió en la mujer más poderosa de la Dirección de Inteligencia Nacional (DINA), la Policía represiva creada en los primeros años de la dictadura de Augusto Pinochet, en Chile. A pesar de su poder e influencia en la época más aciaga de ese país sudamericano, es un personaje poco conocido para los propios chilenos. Para quienes si saben de su existencia, Olderöck fue de las torturadoras más temibles de que se tenga noticia.
Hoy, esta exagente, nacida en 1944 y fallecida en 2001, vuelve a la luz pública gracias al cortometraje «Bestia», que se encuentra nominado al Óscar al mejor cortometraje animado y da una mirada al devenir sicológico de la exmiembro del cuerpo de Carabineros de Chile, enmarcada en una rutina llena de maldad.
«Este trabajo se inició con la búsqueda de personas poco conocidos de la historia política de Chile. Al dar con Ingrid Olderöck, encontramos que cada cosa que configuraba a este personaje era importante de contar. Entonces, realizamos una interpretación de cuáles podían ser sus sueños, sus traumas y la relación con su perro. Creo que ella representa a la maldad en su máxima expresión, a pesar de ser solo una parte de este engranaje de la DINA«, cuenta a DW el director del cortometraje, Hugo Covarrubias.
Covarrubias explica que «luego de leer el libro de Nancy Guzmán, Ingrid Olderöck, la mujer de los perros, encontré que la propia Olderöck revelaba mucha incongruencia mental, paranoia, frustración. Entonces, decidimos abordar la historia desde la sicología del personaje porque, a pesar de ser perpetradora, ella estaba fracturada, tenía bastantes traumas y se le notaban«.
«La mujer de los perros»
El libro en el que se basa «Bestia» reúne la investigación y una serie de entrevistas realizadas por la periodista Nancy Guzmán, quien publicó su trabajo en el año 2014. Es Guzmán, cuya obra ha sido recientemente reeditada, quien mejor puede contar la historia de esta mujer, hija de alemanes y experta en una diversidad de ramas dentro del adiestramiento militar.
«El que sea hija de alemanes es determinante, porque lo que esta mujer recordaba de su niñez era que sus padres las educaron (eran tres hermanas) repitiéndoles que el mejor momento de Alemania fue el período de Hitler, el nazismo. Además, ellos tenían comportamientos duros, rígidos, con sus hijas. Las obligaban a aprender a tocar instrumentos musicales, danza o escritura. Eran adoradores del orden. Ellas solo podían hablar alemán. Eran denostadores de culturas que consideraban inferiores, como la chilena. La misma Olderöck se sentía alemana, a pesar de haber nacido y crecido en Chile. Era una familia de migrantes que logró acomodarse gracias a que este país recibe bastante bien a quienes vienen de Europa«, relata Nancy Guzmán a DW.
El camino que recorrió Olderöck para convertirse en «la mujer de los perros» lo hizo a través de Carabineros de Chile. «Ella fue fundadora de la escuela femenina de Carabineros. Siempre quiso ser militar y como era muy difícil entrar, le escribió al general Queirolo para crear un destacamento de mujeres en la fuerza policial. Después de eso, logró ingresar a esta institución uniformada que le hacía sentir esta cosa militar. Ella era un comando en sí misma, hizo todos los cursos que pudo, era experta en artes marciales, en tiro, en montar a caballo, en paracaidismo y experta en adiestramiento de perros«, cuenta Guzmán.
La investigadora chilena detalla que es justamente gracias al adiestramiento canino que Olderöck se gana fama de torturadora, porque era ella quien dirigía la vejación por violación, a cargo de un pastor alemán, contra detenidos y detenidas en la casa de tortura cínicamente llamada «La venda sexy«.
«Ella se hace famosa gracias a un juicio que se le inicia en Alemania, durante la dictadura de Pinochet, donde es denunciada, por primera vez, por realizar esta particular tortura con un perro que había adiestrado«, un juicio que no tuvo ningún futuro resolutivo, pero sirvió como primer antecedente de las labores ejercidas por esta mujer en Chile.
«Olderöck trabajaba en (el centro de tortura) Villa Grimaldi, pero iba cada cierto tiempo a esta otra casa a realizar este vejamen. El perro, llamado Volodia por el escritor y político comunista Volodia Teitelboim, estaba permanentemente en ‘La venda sexy’ y ella era la única que podía darle las instrucciones para violar a los detenidos, aumentando la sensación vejatoria de una tortura como esta, porque es la más repugnante en todos los sentidos. Es imposible imaginar lo que puede sentir un ser humano cuando está vendado, amarrado y es sometido a una violación por parte de un animal, porque además el perro es el animal más amigable con el ser humano. Es brutal«, dice Guzmán.
Para que el mundo conozca a Olderöck
Para el director de la cinta, «mostrar la existencia de este tipo de personas es trascendente, sobre todo para los escépticos. Hay muchas personas que todavía no creen que las torturas ocurrieron en Chile. Entonces, cuando se hace un corto que narra una historia macabra y detrás hay una investigación completa, amparada por un libro que relata en detalle los horrores del personaje, más de alguno termina por convencerse«, agrega Covarrubias, que demoró tres años y medio en terminar este trabajo junto a su equipo.
Por su parte, Nancy Guzmán apunta a que este cortometraje sirve para que no solo en Chile, sino en otras partes del mundo se conozca «a este tipo de personajes, que van quedando muy ocultos. Así se crea una memoria donde los genocidas no tienen género. Sirve para ver cómo funciona el mal en nuestras sociedades. Lo que uno espera es que la memoria persista a través de estas plataformas, con historias que nos recuerdan que el ser humano es eso: que no somos todos buenos, y que estos seres abyectos viven con nosotros y aparecen cuando la situación política y económica se los permite, impregnando a toda una sociedad de muerte, sangre y dolor«.
