El Barcelona presentó a Ferran Torres como nuevo jugador el lunes, aunque el equipo español aún no lo puede registrar.
El director deportivo del Barcelona, Mateu Alemany indicó que el club sabía que no tenía espacio para Torres en la alineación “en cuestión de salario” cuando lo adquirieron del Manchester City por una cuota inicial de 55 millones de euros (62,25 millones de dólares) la semana pasada.
“Pero venimos haciendo trabajos en diferentes vías”, dijo Alemany, “tenemos el convencimiento de que pueda ser inscrito”.
Torres no parece preocupado y dijo que se sentía “tranquilo porque el Club está haciendo todo lo posible”.
Torres indicó que regresa a España como un jugador mejorado tras estar bajo el mando de Pep Guardiola en el City, equipo al que llegó en el verano del 2020 proveniente del Valencia.
Anotó 16 goles en 43 encuentros en todas las competencias con el City, pero nunca fue una opción habitual debido a las opciones de Guardiola al ataque.
“Cuando me fui al City ya tenía la idea de volver un día a la Liga y el Barça me ha mostrado su interés”, reconoció. “Yo soy un jugador ambicioso y me gustan los retos. Quiero llevar al Barça allá donde merece”.
Torres no ha jugado desde octubre debido a una lesión en el pie que sufrió en un encuentro con la selección de España, pero espera estar recuperado para el encuentro ante el Real Madrid de la semifinal de la Super Copa de España el 12 de enero.
Torres firmó un acuerdo de cinco años y tiene una cláusula de recisión de 1.000 millones de euros (1.130 millones de dólares).

El recién adquirido jugador del Barcelona ha dado positivo a un test por COVID-19 informó el club a través de sus redes sociales.
Junto a Torres también fue encontrado positivo al coronavirus Pedri, indicó el mismo mensaje en Twitter.
Se informó que ambos jugadores «se encuentran bien de salud y están aislados en su domicilio«.
