Asesinan a otro periodista en el estado mexicano de Michoacán

El asesinato a balazos este lunes (31.01.2022) del reportero Roberto Toledo, en el occidental estado de Michoacán, ha conmocionado una vez más al gremio periodístico de México y al país al tratarse del cuarto comunicador muerto en menos de un mes.

«Hoy finalmente las amenazas se cumplen y uno de nuestros compañeros perdió la vida a manos de tres personas que llegaron y le dispararon de manera ruin, de manera cobarde. Nosotros no estamos armados, nosotros no traemos armas, nuestra única defensa es una pluma«, dijo a Efe Armando Linares, director de Monitor Michoacán, medio en el que trabajaba el periodista asesinado.

Toledo fue atacado por tres sujetos armados en el estacionamiento del edificio donde se ubica Monitor Michoacán en el municipio de Zitácuaro.

Los individuos le dispararon varias veces y él recibió dos impactos de bala en el abdomen, uno en el tórax, otro en un brazo y uno más en una clavícula.

Poco después de los hechos, el coordinador de Comunicación Social de la Presidencia, Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, dijo a través de Twitter que el Gobierno de México «condena el asesinato del periodista Roberto Toledo del portal Monitor Michoacán«.

Varias líneas de investigación

La Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) de Michoacán no descarta ninguna línea de investigación en el asesinato de Toledo.

La dependencia informó que ya realiza investigaciones para determinar si el homicidio del comunicador está relacionado con su actividad periodística o con la abogacía, ya que también era colaborador de un despacho jurídico que compartía oficinas con el medio de comunicación.

Aunque no se había confirmado el vínculo del asesinato con la labor en prensa, el director de Monitor Michoacán atribuyó el suceso a que su medio se dedica a «exhibir corrupciones» de las autoridades y de los políticos.

Habían recibido amenazas

En medios locales, Linares dijo que en el portal informativo había recibido «amenazas para todo el equipo» y que estas comenzaron hace un año cuando el medio «exhibió» corrupción de un exalto cargo de la Fiscalía estatal.

Una fuente de la Fiscalía reveló a Efe que en la escena del crimen los asesinos dejaron dos pancartas en las que una organización del narcotráfico habría plasmado amenazas contra abogados que tratan casos de un grupo criminal rival.

Sin contar todavía este último caso, la ONG Artículo 19 contabiliza 148 periodistas asesinados por su labor desde el 2000 a la fecha, 28 de ellos durante el mandato de López Obrador, que arrancó en diciembre de 2018.

El asesinato de Toledo sucede a menos de una semana después de una multitudinaria jornada de protestas en todo el país por los recientes asesinatos de periodistas en México, pues ya son cuatro informadores en lo que va de año.

Antes de Toledo, fueron asesinados José Luis Gamboa en el puerto de Veracruz (Veracruz) el 10 de enero y Margarito Martínez y Lourdes Maldonado en Tijuana (Baja California) el 17 y el 23 de enero, respectivamente.
