Arrestan a futbolista de la Premier League por delitos sexuales contra menores

Un futbolista de la Premier League ha sido arrestado por violación y secuestro

La prensa británica deportiva amaneció con un tema central sobre la mesa después de que se conociera el arresto de un futbolista de la Premier League por presuntos delitos sexuales contra menores. Así lo informaron los principales medios como Mirror, The Sun y Daily Mail.

Si bien por asuntos legales ninguno dio el nombre del implicado en cuestión, brindaron datos importantes como que el acusado sería un jugador de 31 años, de alto nivel internacional y estaría casado. Todo indica que se trataría de un futbolista del Everton, equipo que recientemente sacó un comunicado oficial.

Los medios ingleses confirmaron que éste viernes la policía de Greater Manchester se aproximó al domicilio del implicado, lo arrestó y registró la propiedad. Posteriormente fue puesto en libertad bajo fianza a la espera de nuevas investigaciones.

“La policía confiscó varios artículos. Y fue interrogado en relación con delitos muy graves”, detalló el medio The Sun.

“Los agentes arrestaron a un hombre el viernes 16 de julio de 2021 bajo sospecha de delitos sexuales contra menores. Está bajo fianza policial a la espera de nuevas investigaciones”, fue el comunicado oficial que emitieron las autoridades policiales con respecto al caso.

En paralelo, fue el Everton el que lanzó un comunicado en su página web: “El Everton puede confirmar que ha suspendido a un jugador del primer equipo en espera de una investigación policial. El Club seguirá apoyando a las autoridades en sus consultas y no hará más declaraciones en este momento”.

“Cualquier acusación de delitos que involucren a menores se toman muy en serio desde el mismo momento que se formulan. Nos ha causado un gran impacto”, señaló una fuente del club de Liverpool a Daily Mirror.

“Claramente, este asunto debe investigarse a fondo. Las acusaciones de esta naturaleza causarán una gran cantidad de alarma entre todos dentro del club, los fanáticos y el público en general. Este es ahora un caso de esperar a ver adónde nos lleva la investigación”, sentenció dicha fuente desde el anonimato.

Por otra parte, el periódico The Sun, que tuvo acceso a otros testimonios, informó que la noticia “ha aturdido al vestuario. Todos esperan que las acusaciones no sean ciertas”.

El Everton de Rafa Benítez comenzará la pretemporada con un partido programado para el 26 de julio, en el que se enfrentarán a Millonarios en la Copa Florida de los Estados Unidos. El 14 de agosto, en tanto, debutarán en la Premier frente al Southampton.
